    About the job

The Marine Structures Research group at the Department of Marine Technology is working with design, risk assessment, life span, fluid structure interactions and marine operations of marine structures exposed to waves, current and wind in the ocean environment, which is also exposed to climate changes. Among the applications of this work are environmental loads and structural response on offshore structures such as installations for oil & gas extraction, solar floats, floating wind turbines, subsea pipelines and power cables, and operations and design of future fish farms. For existing and future large scale marine structures, it is necessary to fully couple environmental loads (wind, current, waves) with structural response in an integrated way considering fluid-structure interactions. Changes in met-ocean condition predictions underpins the importance to identify potential ill-behaved phenomena and incorporate into design to secure safe and prudent operations of offshore structures. To meet this challenge, the Department of Marine Technology will strengthen the research group by employing a professor/associate professor working on non-linear stochastic modelling applied on marine structures. The position is sponsored for a period of five years by Equinor through the Academy Agreement and will thereafter be fully covered by NTNU.
